INTERVIEW HAIRSKILLSPRO X ARJAN BEVERS

1. On the journey

C.M : Thirty years in hair is not just experience — it’s life.

Looking back, what moments shaped you the most, not as a hairdresser, but as a human being behind the craft?

A.B : Ahh that’s a deep one right away! I think just doing the hair of clients, hearing their stories, see their smiles when they are happy with the hair I created that shaped me because it made me realize that as a hairdresser I have the superpower to change someone’s life! It’s not about cutting hair, it’s creating identity, self confidence.

2. On creativity & evolution

C.M : In industry that constantly reinvents itself, how do you personally keep your creativity alive without losing your identity — and how do you know when it’s time to evolve versus stay grounded?

A.B :I don’t have to adapt every trend or movement, realizing that makes it more easy. I only do hair that I like, if I keep continuing that, I get the clients that suits me. Ofcourse we change the way we do hair all the time but I’m a big fan of classic cuts! With little adjustments they never go out of style..

3. On ethos & responsibility

C.M :With global recognition comes influence.

What values guide your decisions today, and what responsibility do you feel toward the next generation of hairdressers and educators?

A.B: I think it’s important to share! We are not here forever and we have the responsibility to teach young hairdressers. The industry gave me so much and I try to do my piece in giving a little bit back. In my country I won all the award there are to win and I don’t need more awards but teaching and coaching new talents and see them win something give me so much more fulfillment.

4. On motivation through the years

C.M :After decades at the top, motivation doesn’t come from applause anymore.

What still excites you to step into a classroom, backstage, or studio — and what keeps the fire truly burning?

A.B : To be honest, I don’t feel it that way.. I never feel that I’m there.. there are so many things I want to learn or be better at and every time I do a show or a seminar I want to do better than the previous time.

5. On spirit & legacy

C.M :If success is not awards, followers, or titles — but who you become along the way — what do you hope people feel when they experience your work, your teaching, and your presence?

A.B :Ahh I hope that they liked my work, that they say I’m a good hairdresser and they like how I made them feel. I deeply believe that it’s important to be a good human being. I try to teach my kids and try to do it myself.
